Walking

"Spending time in the hills is good for the mind, body and soul, especially in the worst of times."

Cameron McNeish local author and hill walker.

The walking possibilities in the local area are endless.  From low level gentle, forest trails, lochside walks to high level hill walks and challenging ridge routes on the vast Cairngorm plateau.  We recommend anyone planning a walk to check out the Walk Highlands website and the Mountain Weather Information Service (MWIS) before heading out.  Please be aware these are dangerous hills and there are almost daily call outs to mountain rescue.  Plan appropriately and dress for all weathers.  Ensure you have the right equipment and skills.  There are printed copies of some local walks and maps in The Bothy for your convenience.
